Maxim Gorky (Alexey Peshkov) was one of the most famous female writers in Russia and USSR. He was born on 28th March 1868 in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.

As a child, Alexey lived with his mother, but she died early. At the age of eleven he had to go to work. He worked at the store, on the boat, the baker, in icon painting shop, etc. Years later he began to write. In 1892 hewrote his first story titled "Makar Chudra". Over the years, he has written many other stories and novels.

He was died on 18th June 1936 in Gorky, USSR. He was one of the most famous writers of the 19th-20th centuries, not only in Russia, but all around the world.
